FAQs

Total Care Solutions can help you with tasks, such as helping you find a home health care aide or to arrange and monitor the entire caregiving process.

Are Total Care Solutions services covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance?

Not at this time.

How does one pay for life’s geriatric management services?

We provide private care management on a fee for service basis. Our fees are stated in written form and approved by the person accepting responsibility for payment prior to initiation of services. Total Care is aware of the fact that different families have different needs, and we accept the following payment options:

Cash or Check?

Checks must be either personal or certified.

Credit Cards?

All major credit cards are accepted, including Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

Monthly payment plans are available upon request.

My mother needs some help around the house. Can Total Care Solutions help me?

Our Shared Care services were developed with this in mind. We provide in home non-medical help, as frequently as needed. We can provide assistance for a few hours a day, or a few hours each week to run quick errands. It’s up to you.

My brothers, sisters and I disagree over how to care for Mom. How do we proceed?

Many times, sibling disagreements arise because siblings see their parent’s needs differently. A complete Total Care assessment can objectively provide valuable information about what kind of care is best and most realistic under the circumstances.

My father refuses to accept help. How can I convince him?

Talk over the situation with him. Perhaps there are certain tasks that he would appreciate help with, even if they are not the ones you would prioritize. Often, an elder may be concerned about the cost of services. If you can address this issue, perhaps your parent will be more willing. Ultimately, it is important to respect your parent’s right to make his own decisions.

Are these services available free through government and community agencies?

Social Service agencies such as services provided by the New York City Department for the Aging offer limited services to individuals who otherwise may receive no services at all. Unfortunately if you are neither low income nor extremely wealthy, often times your needs fall through the cracks. There are fewer follow-ups, very little outreach, and no service which is as comprehensive as what Total Care Solutions can provide.
